What is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD)?
An APD is a university qualified allied health professional who continues to undertake training and education programs to remain accredited and to ensure that they provide the most up to date, credible nutrition information on a wide range on conditions. APD’s have the expertise to provide individual dietary counselling, medical nutrition therapy, group dietary therapy and food service management. A dietitian has undertaken a course of study that included substantial theory and supervised and assessed professional practice in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and food service management.
All APD’s are members of the Dietitian’s Association of Australia (DAA) and practise in line with the DAA Professional Standards. APD’s are recognised by the Australian Government as well as Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), most private health funds and Medicare.
